Ronald McDonald House's Home for Dinner Program aims to provide a home away from home for families who have a child in hospital.
The charity’s purpose is to alleviate stress for these families by providing nearby accommodation. The Home for Dinner Program helps to further reduce the family’s stress by providing a cooked dinner for when they return to the house after a long day at hospital.
The program aims to provide an efficient and quality dinner time service by asking volunteers to provide and cook the meal in the kitchen at the Ronald McDonald House.
Each and every volunteer is encouraged to make the experience more enjoyable for everyone by dressing up, decorating the dining room, and adding a theme. The volunteers also make a financial contribution to help with the running of the house and to cover the costs of the ingredients for the meal.
Lendi participated in the Home for Dinner Program as part of our sponsorship of a room at the Ronald McDonald House Randwick. This program gave Lendi’s employees a chance to meet the families that were being supported by Ronald McDonald House Randwick.
This was a rewarding experience for Lendi employees to be able to bring a smile to these families’ faces, given the challenges that these they are going through.
The first step in the program was to work as a team to decide on a menu. Lendi chose to do a barbecue and since it was close to Easter, Lendi also organised an Easter egg hunt for the children at the house.
Lendi’s participation in the Home for Dinner Program was deemed a success, with the team given the chance to entertain and feed 140 people!
