While Christmas is a time that brings family and friends together, many of those doing it tough on the streets will be spending the festive period alone. With Christmas fast approaching, we were keen to give back locally through our corporate social responsibility program, Lendi Homes.
A huge thank you to the SWAG Family Sydney who shared helpful advice on this initiative with our team members.
Our big grocery shop was ordered on Monday for delivery on Wednesday. We decided on lots of salami, ham and of course some vegetarian options. We also included juice poppers which were a massive hit and ran out very quickly (noted for next time).
On Wednesday we started making sandwiches at 5pm, setting up separate stations for buttering, building, then wrapping the sandwiches, before placing them in individual bags. We also wrote positive messages on the bags! At 6.15pm, we walked from our Circular Quay office to Martin Place where we met some less fortunate members of our community and handed out the sandwiches.
Yes! The initiative was such a success that we intend to turn it into a fortnightly activity for our team members to give back locally.
