Lendi Homes
2020 has been a tough year but it’s been particularly tough for the 116,000 men, women and children in Australia who don’t have access to a secure place to live or the resources to keep them safe during this pandemic.
That’s why on Thursday 18 June 2020, our CEO David Hyman will be joined by a group of senior Lendi executives who are teaming up to take part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to raise funds and awareness of homelessness in Australia.
Due to social distancing, the event won’t take place in a central location. It will take place across the country as hundreds of business leaders and executives sleep in their cars, on their couches and in tents in their backyards.
They’ll get a glimpse of the conditions experienced by our homeless community every day. In Australia, around 8,200 people ‘sleep rough’ in improvised dwellings, tents or outdoors. But the majority of people facing homelessness are living in cars, on the couches of friends or family, or in overcrowded, temporary or unsuitable accommodation.

Remember - There is no single cause of homelessness. It can affect anyone at any time. A shortage of affordable and available rental housing, domestic and family violence, poverty, unemployment, mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse, financial crisis, exiting state care and/or prison, and economic and social exclusion are all factors that contribute to the current state of homelessness in Australia.
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout raises money for crisis accommodation, food, healthcare, counselling, education, employment, and support to find a permanent home for thousands of people across the country.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 event will be live-streamed with participants taking part from their homes. Participants will nominate to sleep in either their cars, on their couches or in their backyards to gain a sense of the housing insecurity faced by thousands of Australians every night.

Lendi Homes was designed to give everyone at Lendi the opportunity to give back. By making it easier for Australians to find a better home loan, we’re helping relieve financial stress. That’s why each initiative in our Lendi Homes program has followed a similar theme of shelter, homes and houses. Learn more about Lendi Homes here.
